At Sierra South we are always eternally optimistic for another great season of paddling because in our minds, we have had 22 wonderful paddling years on our beloved Wild & Scenic Kern River and we can’t wait to be paddling in number 23. Just as important to us however, are you, our paddling patrons and friends. It is your support of our family-owned local business that allows all of us to enjoy the Kern paddling in the newest and best gear and equipment on the market... Happy Holidays from everyone at Sierra South! |
Our Lickety-Split and Lickety-Blaster raft trips are far and away the most popular and most affordable Class 2-3 whitewater rafting runs available on the Kern River. If you are looking for an "up close and personal" Kern River whitewater experience, try captaining your very own inflatable kayak on a Half-Day I.K. or One-Day Combo. During the Spring runoff we also offer Class 3-4 and Class 5 one-day and multi-day trips on the Upper Kern & Forks of the Kern. The ultimate in overnight trips, the Lower Kern is a dam-released section flowing out of beautiful Isabella Lake. |
If you are curious about whitewater kayaking there's no better introduction than our Kayaking 101 class. We also offer Youth 101, Women's 101, Never Too Old 101 and 5-day Total Immersion learn-to-kayak classes. More experienced boaters will be interested in our Kayaking 201 and Freestyle classes. Does calm water and scenic views sound appealing? Try our Lake Paddling class. We also offer Adventure Race Certification, Private Instruction and Custom Group Programs. |
Our Rock Climbing Adventure is designed for you to experience real rock climbing. You will get to use specialized rock climbing gear, such as harnesses, carabiners, climbing shoes and ropes. Our Custom Group Programs have earned us a great reputation with many different groups. We have a variety of outdoor activities to tailor a half-day or week long program to suit your needs. We have worked with Girl & Boy Scouts, YMCA parent/child programs, youth groups, churches, public and private schools, colleges and universities, large companies, special interest groups and many others. |

The North Fork features the premier expert wilderness run, The Forks, and over 20 miles of easily accessible, roadside boating. The Lower Kern has dependable summer flows, warm water, and exhilarating rapids. The Kern Below Democrat (Cataracts of the Kern) has awesome class IV, V, and V+ whitewater that even the most experienced boater will find challenging. Like steep creeks? Brush Creek is one of the best and Dry Meadow Creek even steeper, more difficult, and amazing! See The River for more info.
