This year we have decided to help our customers with the introduction of a lottery system. This will end the need for camping on the sidewalk the night before the sale. You will pick a number at 8am on Saturday, September 9th , line up in order, and get set to go. This should allow everyone a more equal opportunity to get to the goodies.

Today's RiverPhoto is of Olympic Team member and National K1 Womens Champion, Rebecca Giddens, who paddled to an impressive victory at the 2000 Texaco Whitewater Slalom National Championships at Miracle Hot Springs on Saturday. Results for the Slalom Championships, ACA Wildwater National Championships and Citizen's Slalom are posted on the Kern River Alliance web site. Many thanks to KRA, Texaco, Sequoia National Forest, Miracle Hot Springs, and all the sponsors, volunteers, spectators, and paddlers that made this event such a success; and a special thanks and "Good Luck" to our whitewater slalom Olympic Team! |

It's time for a Kern road trip! The 2000 Texaco Whitewater Slalom National Championships and the 2000 A.C.A. Wildwater National Championships are being held August 18-20, 2000, at Miracle Hot Springs, California. You don't have to be an elite paddler to participate! For more information please see Your Invitation to the U.S. Slalom and Wildwater Nationals. Admission is free!. A $1 raffle ticket will give you a chance to win a Dagger RPM with kayaking lessons, a Hyside inflatable kayak, and many other great prizes! |
On Saturday, August 19, the one mile section of river between Sandy Flat and the Miracle Hot Springs put-in that includes the Nationals race course will be closed to private and commercial kayakers and rafters from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Please see the Forest Service Press Release for additional information.

Good news... Hard working firefighters have made significant progress in controlling the Manter fire. See Manter fire now 65 percent contained on the Bakersfield Californian web site.
We're really excited about the new Dagger Outlaw and Necky Zip. Both boats have super loose hulls and are great fun to paddle and play.
