Hydrology of the Jan '97 High Flows
At 1:00 a.m. on the morning of January 3, 1997 the average hourly Isabella Inflow peaked at 28,310 cfs. This figure is calculated from the change in the elevation of the lake during a one hour period, so it does not accurately reflect the instantaneous peak flow on the river. T.M. estimates a peak flow on the Upper Kern of about 35,000-40,000 cfs at 1:30 a.m., based on gage readings at Riverside Park.
