The Big Five is an exciting afternoon run with five great Class IV rapids, an exciting Jump Rock below Horseshoe Falls.

Lower Kern Big Five Class III-IV

The Big Five begins at Delonegha Bridge and continues five miles downstream to Democrat take-out. This is an exciting afternoon run. Enjoy some of the best Class IV action on the Lower Kern! Five great Class IV rapids and an exciting Jump Rock! There are calm stretches to cool down and swim in between many rapids!

Schedule & Duration

  • 2-3 hours
  • Months of operation: May – September
  • Trip Arrival Time: 2:00pm.
  • Trip Departure Time at 2:30 pm.
  • We suggest you arrive at the store 30-45 minutes prior to the trip departure time. This will allow sufficient time to check-in and change into wetsuits if needed or required. Our trips must leave on schedule. Don’t miss the boat!


  • Minimums: Age: 12 Weight: 50lbs (We may weigh small children)
  • High Water Protocol Minimum: Age: 14
  • Maximum Weight: 300lbs
  • Limitations: All trips require a minimum number of 6 guests. If participant numbers are not met we will notify you and provide various options for your trip to go.
  • Please wear shoes that will stay on your feet in the water, such as tennis shoes, water shoes, or sandals that have a heel strap. No flip-flops or bare feet!

All of our trips may be adjusted based on water levels and/or other conditions.

Additional Information

  • We suggest you arrive at the store 30 minutes prior to the trip. Unless you have a group over 20 or are getting wetsuits, then please arrive 45 minutes to 1 hour prior.
  • Our trips leave on schedule.
  • Price does not include gratuity, so if you like the ride…it’s ok to tip your guide! Please bring cash for Tips.
